BCCI, Vivo India suspend IPL 2020 partnership

Pratidin Bureau

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and Chinese smartphone maker Vivo' s national arm Vivo India on Thursday have announced the suspension of their partnership for this year's Indian Premier League, an official statement stated.

"The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and vivo Mobile India Pvt Ltd have decided to suspend their partnership for Indian Premier League in 2020," it said.

A new title sponsor is yet to be confirmed and announced. This decision came after BCCI and the IPL Governing Council were criticised for keeping Vivo as the title sponsor at a time when anti-China sentiment is running high in India.

The Indian Premier League tournament this year will commence from September 19 and the final will be held on November 10 in the United Arab Emirates across three venues at Sharjah, Abu Dhabi, and Dubai.
