Indian aviation market tops in Asia Pacific region

India tops the Asia pacific region in posting the highest growth of air  passenger traffic in May at 13.3 percent ,said Airports Council International (ACI), the world body representing airports worldwide.

The Asian giants like India, China and South Korea have shown extraordinary growth in the air traffic passenger that has led to a situation of "disparity" in the region if compared with passenger traffic growth of Japan and Australia.Japan, for example, posted a more subdued figure of 2.8 per cent and Australia at 2.3 per cent.

The report said, " the flourishing middle class in populous countries such as India and China have certainly helped to boost traffic especially in their respective domestic markets".

With 6.3 per cent, the Asia-Pacific market tops the list with Europe with 6.2 per cent at the second slot, On the other hand North America saw a traffic grow of 5.6 per cent.

According to reports in May, the global passenger traffic grew by 5.6 per cent on a year-over-year basis.

India's civil aviation market is set to become the world's third largest aviation market by 2025 according to International Air Transport Association (IATA), a trade association of the world's airlines.
