Lockdown To Be Eased In Five Districts Of Arunachal

The Arunachal Pradesh government on Saturday announced that it will lift lockdown from Itanagar Capital Region (ICR), Lower Subansiri, Namsai, Lohit, and Anjaw districts on Monday at 5 am. However, the lockdown will be extended in Tawang and Upper Subansiri till June 12, 5 am, the State Disaster Management Authority stated.

"Containment (lockdown) to be lifted from 0500 hours on June 7 (Monday) in ICR, Lower Subansiri, Namsai, Lohit, and Anjaw districts. The districts to be under micro containment measures as needed. Containment to be extended in Tawang and Upper Subansiri," Chief Minister Pema Khandu tweeted.

"We are witnessing encouraging results of the surveillance and containment measures undertaken so far. However, we must continue to maintain extreme caution," Khandu asserted.

In an attempt to curb the further spread of infection, vaccination in urban areas must be only through online or offsite registration for the 18-plus category.

As per the Directorate of Health Services (DHS) bulletin, till Saturday, Arunachal Pradesh had active cases that stood at 3,753.  The total number of recoveries is 25,237.

The recovery rate stands at 86.69 per cent and the positivity rate at 4.16 per cent, while 123 Covid related deaths have been registered.
