Cong fields Urmila Matondkar from Mumbai North

Actor-turned-politician Urmila Matondkar on Friday was named as the Congress candidate for the Mumbai North Lok Sabha constituency.

She will contest against sitting Bharatiya Janata Party MP Gopal Shetty.

It is to be noted that she is the second Bollywood star to contest the Mumbai North seat after Govinda.

Notably, Mumbai North constituency was once considered to be BJP bastion has always proved a tough constituency. Hence, Congress has fielded Urmila Matondkar to defeat the powerful leader Gopal Shetty. Earlier, Congress had fielded Govinda from the same constituency, who defeated senior BJP MP Ram Naik in 2004.
