Lata turns 90, to receive ‘Daughter of the Nation’ honour

Veteran Indian singer LataMangeshkar, who turned 90 today, will be conferred with the 'Daughter of theNation' title on Saturday as a tribute to her contribution to Indian music overthe last seven decades.

Her song 'Aye Mere Watan KeLogon' dedicated to the martyrs of the Indian and China wae moved the thenPrime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru to tears.

Having recorded thousands of songsin her career, Mangeshkar had featured in the Guinness book of the world recordin 1974. She was also honoured with Bharat Ratna in 2001.
