Coast Guard Remove 500 kg Trash From Underwater

The Indian Coast Guard removed 500 kilograms of trash on Wednesday during an underwater cleanup drive carried out at Kovalam beach in Chennai to mark the World Environment Day.

The Coast Guard along with M/s Dive India carried out the cleanup drive.

It may be mentioned here that underwater debris cleanup is a regular phenomenon in popular public beaches around the world. However, this is the first time such efforts were made in Indian waters.

The removed debris includes nets and other items.
