The Kamrup (M) district administration has increased the number of containment zones in the city as the number of COVID-19 positive cases are increasing at an alarming rate. The administration has declared 19 more areas as containment zones and with these, there are now 118 active containment zones in the city.

Deputy Commissioner of Kamrup (Metro), Biswajit Pegu, has directed the Circle Officers of concerned revenue circles to seal the vicinities where people have tested positive for the coronavirus with immediate effect, vide orders, turning them into containment zones.

Meanwhile, the state has crossed 5000 marks in COVID-19 cases after 102 cases have been detected on Friday evening. The state now has 5006 cases with 1928 active cases.

However, 3066 patients have recovered and discharged from the hospital.
