142 dead so far in Assam hooch tragedy

The hooch tragedy of upper Assam has claimed so far 142 lives and threatening to touch 100 as more and more affected people lost their lives forcing the government to rush doctor from Nagaon, Tezpur and Dibrugarh to meet with the crisis.

In Golaghat district the death toll has crossed 77 while in Jorhat Mecial College Hospital (JMCH) it is 48 so far with more other battling for life.

Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Saturday announced Rs. 2 lakh to the families of those, who died in the hooch tragedy of upper Assam. The CM made this announcement during a meeting in Titabor.

The Assam health Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma informed that JMCH would only admit the serious patients to concentrate on the 100 odd people struggling for lives.
