TheCrime Branch of Guwahati Police on Saturday night seized fake gold bars andarrested two people in connection with the seizure from Sijubari area inHatigaon. The arrested were identified as Saidul Islam and Gaji Rahman.

The incidents of fake bars being made and circulated by unscrupulous elements across the bullion trade are not new but of late their number has been proliferating, one of the Crime Branch officials said.

Manyof these bars reportedly are copies of reputed overseas as well as ones made bydomestic bullion manufacturers.

Meanwhile,both the accused are currently being interrogated by Hatigaon Police.
