2 More Arrested In Dhirenpara Dacoity Case

Another two accused were arrested by Assam Police in the Dhirenpara dacoity case where one person was shot. The two suspects, identified as Amarjyoti Sarania and Jomin Boro, were caught at Koklabari in Baksa.

Guwahati Police on Thursday apprehended another suspect, Ashish Mandal alias Bappi Mandal in the case who is thought to be the 'mastermind' behind the incident. Ashish was arrested from Fatasil Ambari.

The crime branch had earlier made two other arrests. Ganesh Das (36) and Omar Ali (19) were arrested in connection with the October 5 incident.

Ashish Mandal and his friends, a group of six in total, approached the jewellery store cum residence of Gautam Paul. After entering the house, they bolted the doors from inside and made the residents- three women and a child to kneel as they looted the valuables in the house.

A person, Litan Majumdar, who tried to stop the car and the decoits from fleeing the scene, was shot and left injured.
