Pratidin Bureau

Two officers at the office of the water supply project of the Asian Development Bank in Guwahati tested positive for COVID-19. The infected persons have been identified as Mitu Das who is an administrative officer and Engineer Joydeep Bhuyan.

Allegations have been made by the employees that they were compelled to come to the office during the lockdown which is a sheer violation of COVID-19 protocols.

Meanwhile, Mitu Das's four-year child has also tested positive of the virus. At the time when the government clearly said that mothers who have a child below five years should not go to office but Mitu Das had regularly attended office during this crises as they have been instructed to do so.

However, both Das and Bhuyan have been admitted to hospital.

The other employees have been instructed to attend office even after two officials have been detected with COVID-19 positive and the office has not yet sanitized.

Assam Minister Siddhartha Bhattacharyya who is in charge of the department asked the employees to come to the office during lockdown.
