With barely a month left for Durga Puja, the Assam Governmenthas decided to pay 20% puja bonus to plantation workers under Assam TeaCorporation Limited.

Various political-non political organizations urged the teaindustry as well as the state government to pay the maximum 20% puja bonus tothe workers. The garden workers are already lowly-paid by the gardens. Theydeserve the highest rate of bonus which is paid once in a year during Durgapuja.

It is a sensitive issue for the workers and anything less than20% bonus may result in dissent among workers leading to serious law and ordersituation.
