3 Excise officials killed in mysterious accident

In a sensational incident, three excise department officials died after their vehicle mysteriously collided with a dumper on Wednesday night. The incident took place over the NH 39 in Morongi area near Numaligarh when the dumper (NL-05-G-1049) crashed into the vehicle (AS-01-DJ-0801), where the excise department officials were travelling.

According to reports, two excise department officials – Inspector Sumu Maibongsa and Constable Ramen Gurung, died on the spot. On the other hand, Excise Sub-Inspector Harekrishna Kumar succumbed to his injuries at Jorhat Medical College & Hospital (JMCH).

Meanwhile, three more sustainedserious injuries during the accident and were admitted to JMCH in criticalcondition.

It may be mentioned here that the team of Excise department was investigating illicit liquor syndicate trading from Arunachal Pradesh.
