3 Hotels in GMCH Premises Shut Down by Food Safety Dept

After Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma's sudden visit to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) on Thursday, the Food, Safety and Security department has also launched an operation at the hotels and restaurants at the GMCH premises on Friday.

Three hotelshave been closed down for three days for serving food to the customers in an unhygienicway. The hotels Rekha, Jaya and Asami have been instructed to shut down for sevendays with effect from June 29.

The departmenthas also asked the hotels to follow the requisite rules under Food Security Actand asked them to serve food to the customers which would be prepared withproper hygiene after reopening of the hotel.
