In a sensational incident, at least five people of a marriage party reported to be dead after the vehicle they were travelling in met with an accident near the NH 31 in Balajan area of Dhubri on Saturday morning.

Out of the passengers, five died on the spot while five more, who sustained serious injuries have been admitted to Dhubri Civil Hospital. Four of the five deceased have been identified as Sambhu Rawat, Utpal Barman, Subhas Adhikary and Kanjan Bin.

According to locals, the Traveller vehicle, where the marriage party was travelling in rammed into a truck. Meanwhile, the police reached the spot immediately after the accident and currently monitoring the situation.

Notably, there have been many incidents in the past when people have lost their lives while returning or going to attend a marriage function.
