5 kidnapped rescued in Nagaland

Pratidin Bureau

Five kidnapped victims along with a lady advocate of Golaghat rescued in Nagaland on Wednesday.  Acting on a tip-off, Golaghat Police in collaboration with Khatkhati Police have managed to rescue the victims safely from the neighbouring state.

The victims identified as Chandra Lahkar, Bitupona Gogoi, Dharmeswar Hazarika, Bijay Chetry and Rituparna Gogoi.

According to sources, the victims raised their voice against illegal supari syndicate, which is running by some dominant figure in the state. Suspecting the people as CBI or media persons, the illegal supari traders tactically handed over the five local residents to NSCN (IM) when the residents asked about illegal supari trading in Golaghat.

After getting an audio clip which revealed about the kidnapping case, Assam Police took the clip as clue and started concentric operation.

For further investigation of the case, Golaghat SP directed two police officers of the district to visit Dimapur. The police officers are SDPO, Dhansiri Anirban Sarma and Sarupathar OC Ranjit Chetia.
