Continuing the ongoing protest against the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, Akhil Gogoi led the Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) and 69 other organisations observed Shankalpa Divas on Thursday. The 70 organisations staged protest against the Bill by showing Gamochas in front of the Janata Bhawan at Dispur.

Speaking on the occasion, KMSS leader Akhil Gogoi said, "We will not sit until the Bill is scraped. We on this Shankalpa Divas take vow to save Assam, Assamese culture and Assamese language," adding that he would not observe the coming Magh Bihu as it is a crucial time for the people of the State.

Another protester from the organisations said, "We will not accept the Hindutva agenda of Narendra Modi led BJP government in this secular country."

The Citizenship (Amendment) Bill has been passed in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday. The Bill evoked widespread protest across the State.
