8 Held With Drugs In Mizoram

At least 8 people, including 3 women, have been arrested for carrying heroin and 12 kg of ganja (cannabis) at Sesawng village in Mizoram.  Police said that they have seized the drugs worth Rs 13.3 lakh on Sunday.

The police said that during a joint operation atHringlangtlang village in Champhai district of Mizoram bordering Myanmar andarrested three persons, including a woman. The Special Narcotics Squad and CID(Special Branch) of state police seized 369.56 grams of heroin.

The contraband worth Rs. 13 lakh in the local market wasconcealed in soap cases, they said.

The arrested persons were identified as Lalrinmuani (23),and Vanlalpeka (19), both from Aizawl and Emanuela (39), a resident ofChamphai's Zotlang.

In another incident, volunteers of Supply Reduction Service (SRS)a drug squad constituted by Central Young Mizo Association(C-YMA), seizedsubstantial grams of heroin and apprehended two persons identified asTlangrosiama (38), and Roluahkunga (39), both from Tuirial village near Aizawlon Saturday night, C-YMA president Vanlaruata said.
