8 Rohingyas detained at Silchar

The Assam Police has detained eight Rohingyas on Monday. Acting on a tip off, a team of Assam police has detained the Rohingyas from a rented house at Sonabarighat in Silchar.

The detained Rohingyas includes 6 women. Two of Rohingyas have been identified as Mohammad Riyaj and Amir Hussain, informed police.

The police have also recovered Bangladeshi passports from them. Cell phones and other documents were also seized from them. However police are cross checking the documents if they are true or fake.

Reports suggested that they have been living in the rented house since last four months. Police also detained the owner of the house, identified as Sirgul Barbhuyan.
