“98% Muslims enrolled their names in NRC with fake docs”

Pratidin Bureau

Guwahati MP Bijoya Chakravarty said in Lok Sabha that at least 98 percent of Muslim populations in 17 districts of Assam have enrolled their names in the National Register of Citizens (NRC) using fraudulently procured documents.

Making a mention under Rule 377 in Lok Sabha, the BJP MP on Tuesday called for immediate implementation of Clause 6 of the Assam Accord. Chakravarty said the indigenous people were finding it extremely difficult to get their names included in the NRC as they do not possess any documents.

Chakravarty further said that the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016 is unlikely to be tabled in the Parliament during the ongoing Winter Session.
