AAMTA calls off 48 hour transport strike on June 11

The All Assam Motor Transport Association (AAMTA) has called off its 48-hour transport strike (chakka bandh) scheduled on June 11.

In a press release AAMTA President Pulak Goswami and General Secretary Pradip Das had informed that the decision was taken after a request made by the Sadou Bharat Haridev Sangha and also considering the the subsequent Eid al-Fitr.

On June 4, AAMTA had observed a 12 hour strike demanding increase in fares of public transport to cope with the rapid price rises.

The Association had called for all commercial vehicles to stay off roads on June 11 as protest.
