AASU introduces ‘Cooling Period’ for its members

Pratidin Bureau

The All Assam Students' Union (AASU) has proposed to impose a six-month cooling period for its members before    joining any political party.

It may be mentioned that since the culmination of the anti-foreigners movement in 1985, many AASU leaders have been joining active politics. That's why, AASU central leadership proposed the 6 months cooling period for its members before joining any political party.

AASU said that top leadership of the student body is monitoring the activities of a section of its leaders who are reportedly in touch with political parties.

All Assam Students' Union or AASU is one of the largest students' organisations in the state. It is best known for leading the six-year Assam Movement against illegal immigrants from Bangladesh.
