ADB Sanctions Rs.1,925 Cr For Tripura Project

The AsianDevelopment Bank (ADB) has sanctioned Rs. 1, 925 crore for upgradation of powergeneration and distribution project in Tripura.

Deputy ChiefMinister and Power Minister of Tripura, Jishnu Dev Varma said that the amountwas recently sanctioned to the Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limitedafter the state government had sought the ADB's assistance.

Varma said that theproject has been sanctioned for upgrading capacity of 63 MW Rokhia Project to120 MW at an estimated cost of over 699 crore and modernizing Gumti HydroElectric Project at an estimated cost of nearly 1225 crore rupees.

The Rokhia projectis located at West Tripura district whereas Gumti project is in Gomatidistrict.
