AGP expresses unhappiness over NRC

Afterthe publication of National Register of Citizens (NRC), the Asom Gana Parishad(AGP) on Saturday expressed dissatisfaction over the NRC. AGP president AtulBora addressing a press conference in Guwahati said that they are dissatisfiedwith the final NRC, adding that all the indigenous people of Assam aredisappointed with the list.

"Wewere expecting an error-free NRC. It was clear that there was a huge influx ofillegal foreigners in Assam and the Assam Movement was initiated followingthat. But the final NRC is not satisfactory," said Bora.

The AGPpresident also added that there is a scope of review of the NRC final list inthe Supreme Court.

Accordingto NRC authorities, 3,11,21,004 people were found eligible for inclusion in theFinal NRC leaving out 19,06,657 people. The left out people also included thenames of those, who did not submit claims.
