Akhil calls for Statewide protest against C’ship Bill

Peasant leader Akhil Gogoi called for a press conference at Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) office on Saturday along with Assam Jatiyatabadi Yuba Chhatra Parishad  (AJYCP)  and  59 other organizations and said that a massive protest rally against the Citizenship Bill would be launched across the state on November 5th

"On November 3, the representatives of 60 organisations will meet to discuss our future course. We will discuss our strategies and plan accordingly to take forward our fight to safeguard Assam," Gogoi said.

"We will also distribute around 30 lakh leaflets across the state to expose the Bharatiya Janata Party and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh on October 30," he added.

Gogoi also called for a public meeting against the bill on November 4.

"Writers, artistes, intellectuals and senior citizens will also be part of the meeting. We will seek valuable suggestions from people coming from all walks of life. On November 5, we will launch our protest. We won't allow the passing of the Bill," said Gogoi.

AJYCP also slammed Hojai MJA Shiladitya Deb over his support for the Citizenship Amendment Bill.

Earlier on October 23 over 60 organisations called for 12-hour statewide bandh  against the Citizenship Bill 2016.
