Akhil challenges CM to prove allegations

Pratidin Bureau

A day after Hiranya Pathari, the former KMSS member, accused Akhil Gogoi of taking money from Congress and AIUDF to work against BJP, the KMSS chief on Sunday challenged Assam CM Sarbananda Sonowal to prove the allegations against him. He also said that if the allegations were proved, then he will quit KMSS as well as public life.

Addressing the media, the KMSS chief said, "Sarbananda Sonowal after becoming CM had ordered a probe against possession of my assets. I dare him to publish the report of the investigation."

Notably on Saturday Hiranya Pathari, after joining BJP, alleged that Akhil Gogoi had taken Rs. 3 crore from Congress and Rs. 1 crore from AIUDF chief Badruddin Ajmal to voice against the ruling government in the State. Interestingly, Pathari had showed black flags at Assam Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma during a protest against Citizenship (Amendment) Bill.

Terming both BJP and AIUDF as fundamentalists, Gogoi urged the people not to vote for both the parties.
