BJP President Amit Shah is reportedly unhappy with Assam BJP's IT cell and leaders for not being aggressive enough before the 2019 Lok Sabha elections in the country, a party leader revealed.

Amit Shah, who reviewed the Lok Sabha election preparations in Assam and other northeastern states during his recent visit to the state, asked the team and other party members to be more active on social media to reach out to maximum number of electorate and attract young voters.

It has been reported that Amit Shah pulled up the social media team of the party in Assam for not going aggressively on social media like Facebook and twitter and asked the team to develop "quality content" to be posted on social media to reach out to maximum voters prior to the elections.

"The national president has asked the social media team to develop quality contest for social media so that we can connect to the people ahead of the Lok Sabha polls. He has also asked us to avoid controversial issues and rather highlight the issues concerning national interest," said a senior party leader.

"He held a separate meeting with the social media team of the Assam unit. A total of 82 members of the team participated. Amit Shah expressed concern over the fact that most of the party leaders in Assam were not active at all on social media except Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma," the party leader added.
