APSC scam: 2 suspended DTOs discharged from services

The state government has discharged, with immediate effect, two public servants for allegedly bribing their way into the elite state civil services. The two officers are — Prasenjit Kumar Ghosh (Sonitpur district transport officer (DTO) and the Transport officer (pool) with additional charge of DTO (licensing) of Kamrup (metro) Suranjita Hazarika.

The duo was arrested in connection with the Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) recruitment scam case.

As per reports, after the course of investigation, it is found from the copies of records that the case of Prasenjit Kr. Ghosh and Suranjita Hazarika (Probationer) are similar to the cases of ACS/APS (Probationers), since they appeared in the same CCE (M) 2014-2015 conducted by APSC and was selected.

Now, the Governor of Assam, in exercise of powers conferred by Rule 19 (1 & 2) of the Assam Transport Service Rules, 2003 is pleased to discharge Shri Prasenjit Kt. Ghosh, DTO (Probationer), Sonitpur (Under Suspension) and Suranjita Hazarika. DTO (Probationer), Transport Officer (Pool) and DTO (Licensing) Kamrup (M) (Under Suspension) from service with immediate effect.
