Arunachal’s COVID-19 Tally Reaches 1855

Arunachal Pradesh on Thursday reported 65 new COVID-19 patients, including 22 security personnel, taking the state's total count to 1,855, an official said.

Of the fresh cases, 10 were reported from Capital Complex region, 19 from Changlang district, 12 from East Siang, eight from Lohit, four each from East Kameng and West Siang, three from Namsai, two from Tirap and one each from Lower Dibang Valley, Papumpare and Tawang, state Surveillance Officer Dr L Jampa said.

All, barring six, are asymptomatic and have been shifted to COVID Care Centres, he said.

A total of 105 patients were discharged from various hospitals in the state on Wednesday, Jampa said, reported news agency PTI.

The northeastern state is witnessing an encouraging trend in the recovery rate since July 15. It stands at over 61 percent at present, he said.

"A total of 1,065 people have been cured of the disease from July 15 to August 5, while 1,467 new cases were detected during the period," Jampa said.

Arunachal Pradesh now has 642 active cases, while 1,210 people have recovered from the disease and three died of it.

The Capital Complex region, comprising Itanagar, Naharlagun, Nirjuli and Banderdewa areas, has the highest number of active COVID-19 cases at 165, followed by Changlang (150), Namsai (49), East Siang (46), East Kameng (40) and Tirap (32), the official said.

Arunachal Pradesh witnessed a spurt in novel coronavirus cases after the residents of the state started returning from other parts of the country during the nationwide lockdown.

The state government has so far tested 95,983 samples for COVID-19, Jampa said.

Chief Minister Pema Khandu had on Wednesday said the state government has adopted a "3T formula of testing, tracing and treating" to contain the spread of the disease.
