Assam: 2 Dead in Separate Road Accidents

Fouraccidents have been reported in Assam on Sunday night killing two persons andseveral injured.

The man-elephant conflict is on the rise in the state and it is the elephant which is the reason behind the accident at Deepor Beel on Sunday night. A speeding Maruti car runs over pedestrians in order to save an elephant. Two persons were severely injured in the accident.

Thepersons have been identified as Lakhindra Teron and Babul Choudhury who is in acritical condition.

Onthe other hand, another accident took place at Mancachar where a bike and ascooty had a head-on collision. The bike rider who was critically injuredrushed to the hospital where he was declared dead.

Meanwhile,another accident has been reported from Pobitora in the wee hours of Monday. A wildbuffalo was killed in the accident as it was hit by a vehicle carrying illegalcows. A speeding vehicle carrying ten cows illegally hit the buffalo. However,the cow smuggler and the driver of the vehicle absconded from the scene afterthe accident.

Followingthe incident, the forest officials rushed to the spot.

Another accident has been reported from Dudhnoi at 46 No National Highway when a Renault Kwid runs over an autorickshaw killing one person and injuring two others.

Thedeceased has been identified as Dwijen Nath while the injured are Binoy Nathand Bikash Nath.
