Assam bureaucrat spends Rs 42 lakh for Office maintenance

Pratidin Bureau

The expenditure of public money to the tune of more than Rs 42 lakh for office maintenance and repairing works by IAS officer Dr M. Angamuthu has raised questions about the former Deputy Commissioner, Kamrup(M), who is known for his proximity to the government in the state.

As per reports, the present Commissioner of the North Assam Division, Dr. M Angamuthu has spent Rs 42 lakh as the office maintenance charges. Few days ago, the IAS officer got his new office address at CM block third floor in Assam Secretariat.

Earlier, the floor had been allotted to Additional Chief Secretary of Assam.

It may be mentioned that, when the government is struggling with scarcity of funds, these officers don't mind spending public money in personal zest.
