Assam celebrities Lachit Divas on Saturday at various parts of the state honoring the memory of Ahom general Lachit Borphukan, who defeated the Mughal army on the banks of the Brahmaputra in the Battle of Saraighat in 1671.

Various events are being organised in the state in remembrance of the legendary warrior. Chief Minister of Assam Sarbananda Sonowal will pay a rich tribute at his statue at Jalukbari.

Sonowal will also pay tribute at the Mid River Statue of Bir Lachit  at the bank of Brahmaputra in Guwahati's Kasomari Ghat.

Lachit Divas is also being celebrated at Jorhat's Lachit Borphukan Maidam.
