Pratidin Bureau

As the countdown for the publication of the final NRC list has begun, today, Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has urged the people to keep calm assuring that the state government will do its best in helping genuine Indian Citizens prove their citizenship.

The Chief Minister has also assured to provide legal assistance to those Indian Citizens who be excluded from the list.

Sonowal stated that exclusion of anyone's name from the final list does not prove that he or she has become a foreigner. He assured that a decision as as such can only be taken by a Foreigners Tribunal after following proper legal process.

PTI quoted the CM saying that no one should be worried. No one should panic. Government is here to take care of everyone. Even those who will be excluded from final list will get enough opportunity to prove their Indian citizenship.
