Assam completes 6 lakh COVID-19 tests: HBS

Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday informed that the state has completed 6 lakhs coronavirus infection testing as of date.

Sarma addressing the media said, "Assam has touched a milestone by completion of 6 lakh test by this evening".

Over 17000 per million population tests were conducted across Assam. The minister said Assam is behind Delhi, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh in per million per day testing. However, it is to be noted the minister has excluded the neighbouring northeastern states while stating the statistics.

In connection to Kamrup Metropolitan, Sarma said, "Rapid Antigen tests, followed by RT PCR tests will be conducted across the city". So far, there have been 25 reported deaths from the district out of the total 48 deaths across the state.
