Assam: Drug Peddler Shot In Leg, Arrested; Drugs Worth Over Rs 9 Lakh Seized

A drug peddler was injured during an encounter with police in Assam's Nagaon on Thursday morning.

He was re-arrested after he managed to get bail in the drugs peddling case.

The peddler, one Saijul Islam hailing from Batadrava area, was shot in the leg during the encounter.

Also, drugs worth over Rs 9 lakh and arms and ammunition were recovered from his possession.

Taking to Twitter, Nagaon police wrote, "Notorious & Charge Sheeted Drug supplier Siajul Islam of Kodomonigaon, Batadrava had managed to secure Bail. Today morning he got Injured and Re-Arrested after a brief encounter. Drugs worth 9+ Lakh and .22 pistol with 4 Rounds seized."
