Assam Electrocution: CM Sonowal Orders Inquiry

Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Wednesday evening directed the Assam Power Distribution Company Limited (APDCL) to institute an inquiry to find out the sequel of events leading to the tragic death of one Robin Das in Biswanath district earlier on the day.

He also asked the APDCL to take strict action against such aberration and further directed it to rectify the shortcomings that led to the tragic death.

Condemning the incident, the CM asked APDCL and the district administration to institute an inquiry to find out the sequel of events leading to the tragic death of Das.

Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal also conveyed his condolence to the victim's family and announced Rs 2 lakh from his relief fund as an immediate relief to the family.

It may be mentioned here that one Robin Das while correcting a fault at 11 KV line in Biswanath District got electrocuted and died on the spot on Wednesday morning.

The APDCL apart from assuring job to the next of the kin of the deceased announced Rs. 2.50 lakh and suspended two-line men of the APDCL.

Meanwhile district administration Biswanath instituted a magisterial inquiry and APDCL also ordered a departmental probe into the incident.
