The flood situation in Assam has once again worsened with nearly 39,026 people in six districts being affected by the deluge. 

According to the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), 19,194 people have been affected in the Dhemaji district while 15,277 people affected in the Sivasagar district. 

Currently, 259 villages under 18 revenue circles of Charaideo, Dhemaji, Dibrugarh, Darrang, Jorhat, Golaghat and Sivasagar districts are under flood water. 

In Dhemaji district, 44 villages under Jonai, Dhemaji, Gogamukh and Sissiborgaon revenue circles have been affected by the current wave of flood, said ASDMA. 

Over 12,624 people have been affected alone in Sissiborgaon revenue circles and many flood-affected people have moved to safer places after the flood waters entered into their homes. 

The flood waters have submerged 3118.62 hectares of cropland in the five- districts of Assam.

The water level of the Brahmaputra River is still flowing above the danger level mark at Neamatighat in Jorhat district while the Dikhou River at Sivasagar and Disang River at Nanglamuraghat in Sivasagar district. 

Around 10,117 domestic animals have also been affected by the deluge. In the past 24 hours, the flood waters damaged three roads in Dhemaji and Dhubri districts, two embankments at Charaideo and Jorhat districts and one bridge in Dhemaji district.
