Assam Govt. should win award: Himanta on CAG report

Pratidin Bureau

Reacting to the report of Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG), Assam Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday said that Assam government should win an award for spending more funds rather than being criticised. Sarma also said that Assam is progressing like other States such as Gujarat and Maharashtra.

The Finance Minister of Assamfurther said that previous Congress government had managed to spend only 40 percent of the proposed funds in the budget, while the current government hasmanaged to spend almost 70 per cent funds proposed in the budget.

It may be mentioned here that the CAG came down heavily on Assam government for the poor financial management in the State as it showed that over 30 per cent of the budgeted money could not be spent for the year 2017-18.
