Assam Hajj pilgrims to leave on July 4

Atotal of 3,594 pilgrims from Assam and other northeastern States are all set togo to Saudi Arabia for Hajj this year under the guidance of North East HajPilgrims Reception Committee. The Haj Committee on Saturday said that the firstbatch of pilgrims will leave from Guwahati on July 4 for Medina.

"Daily, 150 pilgrims will travel to Medina from Guwahati. The State government has appointed 18 Khadim-Ul-Hujjaj (Officer in charge) to take care of the pilgrims of the State," said Nekibur Zaman, chairman of the Haj Committee, while addressing the media in Guwahati. "We are very thankful to CM Sarbananda Sonowal and Minister Ranjit Dutta for their assistance in making the process a success," he further added.

On July 3, on the eve of the first flight to Media, the Haj Committee has organised a programme where CM Sonowal will be present.
