Assam: Onion Price Might Touch Rs. 150/Kg

The skyrocketing price of onion has left tears in the eyes of the customers as it has been sold at Rs. 100-120 per kg in the retail market. Although protest erupts in different parts of the country against the abnormal hike in the price of onion, the government fails to control the price.

In a recentupdate in Assam, the traders on Friday morning said that the price of onionmight touch Rs. 150 per kg in the retail market as the wholesale rate of onionin Nasik has increased.

A trader inBarpeta Road while speaking to Pratidin Time said, "In today's date, thewholesale rate of one quintal of onion is Rs. 10,000 due to which the retailprice of onion is Rs. 120-125 per kg."

The trader further informed that the wholesale rate of onion in Nasik per quintal is Rs. 11500 which means the wholesale rate of onion per kg in Nasik is Rs. 115. And if this price would continue then it might be possible that the price of onion in Assam may rise up to Rs. 150 per kg in the retail market within one week.

Meanwhile, the priceof onion in Assam in different markets is sold at different prices and italready touches Rs. 150-200 in some markets.
