Assam ranks 2nd in NE Olympic games

Assam ranked second position in the first North East Olympic games. The sports event concluded in Imphal on Sunday.

Around two thousand athletes competed in 12 disciplines including Athletics, Archery, Badminton, Boxing, Football, Judo, Karate-Do, Shooting, Table Tennis, Taekwondo, Weightlifting and Wushu.

Manipur secured a total of 159 medals including 80 Gold, 48 Silver and 31 Bronze medals at the Games followed by Assam which secured a total of 140 medals including 46 Gold, 53 Silver and 41 Bronze medals. Arunachal Pradesh bagged the third spot securing 18 Gold, 20 Silver and 38 Bronze medals a total of 76 medals in the Games.

Athletes from the eight northeastern states competed in 12 different disciplines at the five-day sporting event that began on October 24.
