Assam Rifles seizes gold worth over Rs 19 lakh in Manipur

The Tengnoupal Battalion of Assam Rifles on July 10 apprehended one gold smuggler carrying four gold biscuits weighing 664 grams from a vehicle check post in Khudengthabi, Manipur.

Value of the recovered gold is estimated to be Rs 19.92 lakh.

Based on specific inputs regarding smuggling of gold from Moreh to Imphal, a Maruti OMNI (Registration number: MN 06 L 9255) was stopped for checking at the permanent vehicle check post in Khudengthabi.

While frisking and carrying out thorough checking of baggages at the ladies check point, four gold biscuits were found inside the purse of one of the women passengers.

A lady, identified as Tinlam, has been apprehended in relation to the smuggled gold. She was handed over to the Custom Preventive Force, Moreh.
