Assam State Zoo Welcomes Asiatic Lion

The Assam State Zoo cum Botanical Garden has welcomed a new pair ofAsiatic lion brought from Sakkarbaug Zoo in Gujarat. Forest Minister ParimalSulabaidya released the pair of lion named 'Dhiren' and 'Rani' from theenclosures for the visitors.

Releasing the lions from the enclosures, Suklabaidya has given a roundin the zoo by sitting in the golf carts inaugurated today.

Moreover, Zoo officials said that two Giraffe will be brought inSeptember.

The Minister also launched golf cart in the zoo for the visitors. Launchingthe golf cart, Suklabaidya said, "The reintroduction of the golf cart will bevery essential and helpful for the visitors to enjoy the beauty of Assam stateZoo. The battery operated carts are adopted in line with our commitment ofeco-friendly goal for the environment of the zoo."

The minister also felicitated a young boy Manas Das, son of a zooemployee for securing outstanding result in the HSLC examination.
