Assam Swimmer Astha Choudhury Bags Gold In Sr. National Aquatic Championship

In a moment of pride, the Assam Aquatic Team continues to bring laurels home with their commendable performances at the prestigious 74th senior National Aquatic Championship.

On Thursday, Astha Choudhury clinched gold in the 200 metres Butterfly Women's Event. She clocked an outstanding 2:20.47 mts at the event, while, Bikram Changmai bagged bronze in the men's category at 2:05.58 mts.

Astha Choudhury on Wednesday last broke the 12-year senior national record previously held at 1.03.24 and the junior national record at 1.04.66. Choudhury will participate in the 100 metre event on Friday.

Meanwhile, Shivangi Sharma won her second gold on Wednesday in the 100 m free style event with the timing of 59.07 and pushed Tokyo Olympian Shivani Kataria to the third place. Shivangi got her first gold on Tuesday.

The 74th edition of the tournament is underway at Banglalore from 26 October.
