Assam To launch Targeted Surveillance Drive from Tomorrow

A Targeted Surveillance Drive in the name of the Assam Targeted Surveillance Program (ATSP) shall be carried out in all the districts amongst the following categories of persons which shall include a collection of samples for COVID-19 testing.

Atotal of approximately 50,000 samples are to be collected from across the Stateunder the Targeted Surveillance Drive which shall be started on June 17 andshall be completed on June 27.

The followingofficials, people shall be tested during the drive that will be carried outfrom Wednesday:

Truck parking and unloading bays including Railway goodsyard/ godowns

Screening and random sample collection of the staff/employees/ labourers shall be done

A separateStandard Operating Procedures (SOP) for the operation of various establishmentsfrequented by Truckers & Logistics Carriers has been issued separately.(Attached)

Frontline District officials

All officialsincluding healthcare staff, police personnel, Transport Department,administrative officials etc. who have been associated with activitiesrelating to screening, sample collection, surveillance, quarantine etc., including offices of DeputyCommissioners, shall be screened and tested.

Hotel staff

Screeningand random sample collection from the staff members of those hotels which are being used asInstitutional Quarantine viz. staff from reception,bearers, cleaners etc. shall be done.

Family Members of persons released from institutionalquarantine

Screening and random sample collection shall be donefrom amongst the family members/ co-residents of homes of persons who have beenreleased from institutional quarantine.

A statement issued by the health and family welfare department of the Government of Assam said that the Deputy Commissioners' shall prepare micro-plan for the screening and testing in consultation with the concerned Superintendent of Police, Heads of Offices, hotel associations, etc. and submit the same to Mission Director, National Health Mission, Assam by 16th June 2020. DCs shall also ensure the availability of adequate number of laboratory technicians, data entry operators etc. for this purpose. Mission Director, National Health Mission, Assam will coordinate with DCs for smooth conduct of Targeted Surveillance Drive.
