Assamese Short Film for Toronto Lift-Off Film Festival

In heartening news for Assam and her people, an Assamese short film named "Maya Baidew" got an official selection in the Toronto Lift-Off Film Festival 2020 today.

The short film, which revolves around a housemaid and her family's trials and tribulations, has been written, directed, and edited by Samujjal Kashyap. The project has been produced by Pramod Das, while the music has been composed by Harjeet Diaz. The film has two DOPs – Raja Baruah and Kashyap himself.

The 15-minutes duration film has already garnered a lot of praise, recognition, and appreciation from various corners. It has already won the Best Regional Short Film Award in 2020 Rajasthan International Film Festival.

Besides, it was also officially selected for 8th Kolkata Shorts International Film Festival, 2020, besides being picked as the official selection for the Dada Saheb Phalke International Film Festival, 2020.

Speaking to PratidinTime Digital Desk, Kashyap said that he was elated over the fact that within a short period of time, his project has gained such wide appreciation. He also underscored the amount of effort that went into the project.
