Assam’s COVID-19 recovery rate touches 65%: HBS

Assam Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday said Assam's recovery rate from coronavirus infection (COVID-19) has reached 65 percent while the death rate stands at 0.24 %.

According to the health ministry's data, from 15 June to July 12, the state has recorded 12, 218 active cases out of which approximately 700 patients have recovered every day and have been discharged from the COVID care centres and hospitals.

Addressing the media on the current status of coronavirus infection in the state, the minister said, "The active cases will be pushed to 20,000 by Thursday evening, however, around 13,000 recovered patients will be discharged too".

Considering these statistics Sarma said, "The state's recovery rate has climbed to 65%".

The health minister added, the death toll has now reached to 48.

Sarma also said that Assam has entered the third wave, but our recovery rate is lesser than Delhi, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu. However, Assam's recovery rate is better than West Bengal.

The state also has one of the least mortality rate in the nation.
