Assembly’s Budget Session starts amid massive uproar

The Assam Assembly's Budget has started off from today with the speech of governor of Assam Jagdish Mukhi amid a massive uproar by the opposition. The opposition  displayed placards against the center proposed Citizenship Bill. Due to the protest and massive uproar by the position parties, the session had to be halted for 30 minutes.

Security have been beefed up ahead of the session to avoid any unwanted situations due to the ongoing protests against the controversial Citizenship (Amendment) Bill 2016.

BJP's former ally Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) has already written to the speaker of the Assam Legislative Assembly for taking the opposition seats.

The Oppositions up in arms have cornered the Treasury Bench over the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016.
