Atal Amrit Abhiyan To Include 12 Ailments: HBS

Assam Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday said that theAtal Amrit Abhiyan scheme will now include 12 diseases. Earlier, the schemeincludes six diseases.

The new ailments will include ICU patients who will get up to 2lakhrupees, accident, operation of children below the age of 12 years, JapaneseEncephalitis, Bone marrow transplant and Encephalitis.

People will be able to avail the benefits from November 1, 2019.

Addressing a press conference at Janata Bhawan, the Minister said that60 thousand people have already been provided with the benefits under thescheme and 140 crores of rupees have already been released under the scheme.

He also informed that 41 private hospitals are linked with the AtalAmrit Abhiyan scheme and all the private nursing homes in Guwahati have thefacilities of the scheme.

Talking about the upcoming cancer hospitals in the state, Sarma said that 10 percent of works of nine hospitals have been completed and 5 percent of other hospitals have been completed till date. He said that the project of the hospitals have been taken by Larsen & Turbo.

The minister further stated that the mortality rate of infants has decreased to 12% and it will decrease more in the coming days as the team is working on it.

Speaking about the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) tobe constructed at Changsari in Kamrup, Sarma said that the work is underprocess and 25% of the work has been completed. He said that they are expectingto open the hospital by 2021.
