Barpeta: COVID-19 + Patient Deprived of Treatment

Pratidin Bureau

Sensation prevailed in Nisanarsar village in Barpeta district after the health department has suggested a COVID-19 positive patient to stay at home and isolate himself. A youth from Barpeta was tested positive for COVID-19 after he returned from Bengaluru.

After returning from Bengaluru, he was at the Barpeta quarantine center for 10 days and later sent for home quarantine. The health department collected swab samples from the youth and the result came out positive on June 17 but the health department has shown sheer negligence as the youth has not been provided with any kind of treatment.

The villagers arealso in dilemma as the youth Baharul Islam, son of Samsul Haque has been askedto stay at home along with his family by the health department.

The locals demanded state health and family welfare minister Himanta Biswa Sarma's intervention to provide treatment for the youth and also to take steps against the health workers who suggested the COVID positive patient to stay at home rather than to provide him with treatment.
